Board certified Dr. Jay Calvert, a renowned plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, was invited as a guest at the Tyra Banks show to try to convince a woman not to get her plastic surgery done in another country. He enumerated the complications that may happen if the patient goes through with the operation.

In a recent episode of the local TV show, the Tyra Banks show, the story centered on Tina, who was planning to go out of the country to get a liposuction. She wanted to got to Tijuana, Mexico to get a chin lift, full tummy tuck, and surgeries on her abdomen, waist and back. One of her friends, Jullian, was scared that she might be putting herself to harm so he asked renowned cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Jay Calvert, to intervene.

Dr. Jay Calvert, an experienced cosmetic surgeon, was concerned about Tina so he scheduled a discussion with her. He asked her what she would like to be done surgically then he also inquired on how long she was planning to stay in Mexico. He then wanted to know if she had met with the doctor personally, saw his certification and know his professional background. Furthermore, Dr. Calvert also inquired how she was able to find this doctor. Tina answered every question honestly. She told Dr. Calvert that she’s planning to stay in Mexico for a week and that she found the doctor on a web site. Tina’s answers, however, alarmed Dr. Calvert more, so he tried to convince her from getting her surgery done in another country.

Dr. Calvert explained that to have the operation in his center will cost about 31,000 US dollars and that her tummy tuck may cost an additional 15,000. He admitted that Tina might get half this price off if she gets her tummy tuck done outside Los Angeles but the post operative after care might not be as good. Dr. Calvert added that if she gets her surgical care done in Beverly Hills, her tummy tuck would include an overnight stay at the center with a nurse. It would also include all of her follow up appointment in order to see if she developed hematoma, spasms, seroma, muscle problems and other complications that may occur after she had her plastic surgery. Dr. Calvert explained that when someone flies in to have a tummy tuck, he asks the patient to stay in Beverly Hills for a minimum of two weeks in order to receive an effective post surgery care. However, despite all the explanations, Tina still went to Mexico. Dr. Calvert was disappointed and said that she may get a successful operation there, however, if complications occur, she will be totally out in the cold. Still, he hopes that everything works out well for her.

It is essential to select a board certified surgeon with an extensive experience and track record when choosing to undergo any type of surgery. The post operation after care is also very important in order to ensure that no complications develop after the procedure and if ever there is, then it will be treated immediately to prevent further ailments.
